The CiviCore Foundation is thrilled to announce its upcoming presentation at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting, where we'll be sharing our groundbreaking research on how information science and artificial intelligence can foster constructive dialogue and reduce political polarization. Our paper, "Sensemaking Tools Employing AI for Political Depolarization," explores how technology can be a powerful ally in addressing the escalating divisions that threaten democratic societies. We're excited to showcase how innovative AI-powered tools can support the crucial work of non-profit organizations dedicated to bridging political divides, like Braver Angels.
Our research introduces two novel sensemaking tools: Issue Sensemaking and Article Sensemaking. These tools are meticulously designed to empower individuals to navigate complex political issues by exploring diverse perspectives, critically analyzing information, and identifying areas of both common ground and genuine disagreement. By providing structured frameworks for engaging with varied viewpoints and information artifacts, these tools aim to elevate the quality of civic discourse. We believe that by facilitating deeper understanding and more nuanced interactions, we can significantly contribute to reducing affective polarization and fostering a more collaborative socio-political environment.
This presentation at ASIS&T underscores the CiviCore Foundation's commitment to leveraging responsible, human-centered technological solutions for pressing societal challenges. In an increasingly turbulent world, information science has a vital role to play in promoting understanding and dialogue. We're eager to share our findings and engage with the ASIS&T community as we collectively strive to build a more informed, engaged, and unified citizenry. We hope to see you there!
